UAAP Swimmer Fernandez Dominates, Takes Home Two Gold Medals
Swimmer Quendy Fernandez asserts dominance in the pool with another impressive performance, this time at the Philippine Sports Commission-Philippine National Games (PSC-PNG).
Fernandez won gold in the women’s 18-over 50-meter butterfly and 100-m backstroke categories, clocking in at 29.34 seconds and 1:07.66, respectively. She broke a listless start and dedicated her victories to her late coach, Toyskie Dalisay.
Fernandez, the UAAP Season 86 MVP, won three gold medals in her first PNG, with goals to add more to her collection. She aims to finish strong in her upcoming events within the weeklong Games.
In swimming, Arvin Naeem Taguinota II also emerged as the most bemedaled athlete so far, showcased his talent and racked up gold medals in various swimming events. He also earned recognition in a recent age-group competition in Dubai.
Christine Hallasgo, the SEA Games gold medalist and marathon champion, also joined the PSC-PNG and triumphed in the women’s 10,000m. Other standout athletes won gold in various athletic events, solidifying their prowess in their respective disciplines.
Carlo Paalam-coached Cagayan de Oro boxing squad displayed a perfect record with all ten boxers moving on to the next round. INQ
