The Remarkable Rise of LJ Gonzales: From Isabela Kid to UAAP Season 86 Standout

Far Eastern University’s LJ Gonzales arrived at the Araneta Coliseum on Sunday, filled with joy and excitement. Before Game 2 of the UAAP Season 86 Finals, the league honored the best players. Gonzales was among them as a member of the Mythical Five.

His sense of accomplishment was evident despite the team’s 3-11 record. Gonzales commented on his pride and happiness for obtaining such an award during his final year at the university. The recognition allowed him to fulfill a lifelong dream.

Gonzales’ journey from a province in Isabela to the grand stage of Araneta Coliseum, Mall of Asia Arena, and Philsports Arena is a testament to the impact of ambition. Discovered by a mayor in Isabela, Gonzales’ partnership with FEU started in 2015, leading him to where he is now.

Despite FEU’s shortcomings, Gonzales expressed contentment in being able to showcase his talents and play at a collegiate level, emphasizing the significance of the trust reposed in him. He dedicated his success to his family, teammates, coaches, and those who have supported him from the start.
