Tenorio’s Comeback Ignites Gin Kings’ Newest Triumph

Barangay Ginebra’s new guys once again delivered on Sunday night. However, LA Tenorio, the reigning PBA Commissioner’s Cup champion’s captain also made a significant impact. It was his first game back after conquering cancer, and he played a crucial role in their 110-99 win over Terrafirma at PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

Coach Tim Cone praised Tenorio for stepping up when they were struggling against the zone defense and making two big three-pointers. Import Tony Bishop Jr. and Maverick Ahanmisi also made some timely plays in the final period, but it was Tenorio who built a cushion that helped them secure the win.

Tenorio was sidelined for 287 days but returned with six points, three assists, a steal, and a rebound. His efforts helped the Gin Kings improve to a 4-1 record in the standings.

‘Who would’ve thought?’

Tenorio expressed his happiness and gratitude for having another chance to play, especially after going through treatment and focusing on his health and family.

He explained that his recovery was more than just about basketball, emphasizing the importance of inspiring others who are experiencing similar health challenges. Despite the difficulties, Tenorio believes that staying positive, grateful, and prayerful can make anything possible.

Coach Cone acknowledged that Bishop and Ahanmisi are still a work in progress as Barangay Ginebra continues to navigate its title-retention bid with several new faces and players in and out of sick bay.
