Spurs’ Gregg Popovich defends Kawhi Leonard against booing fans at Clippers game
The San Antonio coach told fans to stop booing before the team lost. Coach Popovich was not a fan of the booing. Fans seemed unmoved and actually increased the booing after Popovich told them to stop. Leonard was the Spurs’ best player for a brief 5 years after Tim Duncan’s era. Fans were jeering Leonard at the game after demanding that he be traded in 2018. Leonard faces the jeers with the Clippers and elsewhere since his trade to Toronto. Coach Popovich’s actions on the microphone are reminiscent of Indiana Hoosiers’ coach Bobby Knight’s reaction toward fans in 1989.
