Record-breaking Crowd as Alex Eala Cheers for Creamline in PVL Finals
MANILA, Philippines — Alex Eala attended the Premier Volleyball League Finals Game 2, which set a new all-time attendance record of 24,459 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. The event took place on Saturday, featuring a match between Creamline and Choco Mucho.
The game surpassed the prior record set at Mall of Asia Arena on November 18 last year, which had 19,157 fans in attendance.
During her offseason, Eala enjoyed her first-ever PVL game together with her Brazilian coach Dani Gomez.
Speaking to reporters, Eala expressed her delight in witnessing the vibrant support for the sport. She also shared that she was cheering for Creamline due to her physical therapist’s involvement with the team.
Amidst the fervent atmosphere, Eala was surprised and thankful for the recognition and support she received from volleyball enthusiasts, showcasing the impact of her work in the realm of Philippine sports.
Eala, the first Filipino to win a Grand Slam singles title, aspires to see the same fervor in tennis in the future, appreciating the sportsmanship and teamwork displayed in volleyball.
Eala is set to play as a qualifier in the Australian Open in January.
