Raducanu’s comeback delayed due to a “challenging year”
Emma Raducanu has had a difficult year. The former US Open champion recently withdrew from an exhibition tournament in Macau, postponing her comeback. Raducanu underwent wrist and ankle surgeries, keeping her off the court since April. Although she intended to return to the Macau Tennis Masters on December 2-3, her absence from the final roster due to injury suggests a revised timeline for her return. Raducanu’s triumph at the US Open two years ago as a qualifier made her a notable figure in the tennis world. However, she has faced challenges with her form and fitness, and is presently ranked 289th globally. Despite these setbacks, Raducanu is back in training and is setting her sights on a potential comeback at the beginning of next year, with the Australian Open slated to begin on January 14, 2023. Raducanu, who recently celebrated her 21st birthday, expressed gratitude on Instagram and is looking ahead to what the future holds.
