NCAA Update: JRU Rises in Final Four Race, Letran Ends Losing Streak

Jose Rizal University had a solid 77-64 win over Emilio Aguinaldo College in the NCAA Season 99 men’s basketball tournament. The game took place at San Juan Arena and was a crucial victory to enhance JRU’s Final Four prospects. With a current record of 10-6, the Heavy Bombers now sit in fourth place, trailing only half a game behind the third-running College of St. Benilde and two and a half games ahead of San Beda.

JRU’s Joshua Guiab secured a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Marwin Dionisio contributed 16 points. Jonathan Medina also played a key role with 11 points. On the other side, Nat Cosejo and JP Maguliano scored 12 points each for the Generals, who currently stand in seventh place at 8-8.

Meanwhile, Letran managed to break a six-game losing streak by defeating Arellano, 67-58. Both teams now hold a 2-14 record with two games left in their season. Kobe Monje was instrumental in the winning effort for Letran, putting up 13 points, four assists, and three rebounds on 6-of-12 shooting. Arellano, on the other hand, struggled as none of their players hit double digits, leading them to their fourth consecutive loss.
