Manchester United Stalls Liverpool as Arsenal Leads the Premier League Standings
Manchester United was able to end Liverpool’s winning streak at Anfield on Sunday. They held the Premier League title chasers to 0-0 draw, while both Arsenal and Aston Villa won their respective matches. Liverpool, who had 11 wins from 11 games at home in all competitions entering the match, dominated possession and took 34 shots compared to United’s six. However, they could not put one in the back of the net.
United was missing their captain, Bruno Fernandes, and had their out of form player, Marcus Rashford, on the bench. However, they managed to secure a draw against the high-flying Liverpool team. Liverpool center-back Virgil van Dijk felt that his team was superior in all aspects of the game, but they were unable to find the net.
Arsenal’s defense was able to keep a clean sheet, defeating Brighton 2-0 under the management of Mikel Arteta. Additionally, Aston Villa came from behind to clinch a 2-1 victory over Brentford thanks to goals from Alex Moreno and Ollie Watkins. Meanwhile, West Ham beat Wolves 3-0, and a shocking incident took place at Bournemouth where Luton captain Tom Lockyer suffered a cardiac arrest. He was responsive before being taken to the hospital and is currently in a “stable” condition.
