La Salle Gains Extra Incentive Leading into UAAP Finals
La Salle’s 1998-2001 “four-peat” teams and the 2016 squad finally received their long-awaited championship rings to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the school’s breakthrough in the UAAP Season 61. The teams aim to inspire the Green Archers as they prepare to end a seven-year title drought in the upcoming Season 86 Finals against the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons.
Former La Salle captain Francis Zamora mentioned that the objective of honoring the five teams is to motivate the current batch of Green Archers to win a ring for themselves and the school. The hope is to inspire the basketball team to push themselves harder and secure the championship this year.
La Salle coach Topex Robinson expressed that there is a sense of pressure on the Green Archers to reclaim the crown, but he encouraged his players to be inspired by the previous champions. The players are determined to leave everything on the floor and continue the historic tradition of De La Salle’s basketball program.
The alumni president and former player Zamora emphasized the significance of recognizing the champions who have contributed to bringing honor and glory to De La Salle University by winning championships in the past.
