Jarrett Allen’s double-double leads Cavaliers to victory over Hawks in NBA matchup
Cleveland Cavaliers scored a victory against Atlanta Hawks, beating them 127-119. Their win came amidst injuries as their power forward Evan Mobley and former All-Star point guard Darius Garland will not be able to play until February. Mobley’s going through arthroscopic surgery because of his left knee, and Garland is to repair his jaw, which was broken in a collision with Boston’s Kristaps Porzingis.
“I knew that our team could do it because we have the next-man up mentality,” said Jarrett Allen, who had 25 points and 14 rebounds. “It was different with Donovan at point guard. He definitely facilitated tonight, and I think he took pride in it.”
Donovan Mitchell stepped up, contributing 22 points and a career-high 13 assists. He mentioned, “We’ve got to do it as a group. This run we’re about to go on, it’s for them. We’re doing it together as a group.”
Isaac Okoro scored 18 points and Dean Wade had 16 as both moved into the starting lineup for the Cavaliers. For the Hawks, Trae Young scored 35 points and got 10 assists. Dejounte Murray contributed 21 points, while De’Andre Hunter had 18 points.
The win was crucial for the Cavaliers as they attempt to fill the void created by the absence of Mobley and Garland for the next few weeks. Moving forward, their resolve as a team will be tested in their future games.
