Chery Tiggo emerged victorious and defeated PLDT in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference. Chery overpowered PLDT with a 14-25, 25-20, 28-26, 25-19 score at PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
After losing Imee Hernandez to injury in their previous game, Chery Tiggo saw five players step up, including Eya Laure, who scored 18 points consisting of 16 kills and two aces.
PLDT initially took a commanding 14-25 lead in the first set, but Chery saw a shift in momentum, leading to their come-from-behind win.
Assistant coach Kung Fu Reyes analyzed Chery’s performance, attributing their early struggles to PLDT’s strong blocking. The adjustment in Chery’s playing strategy and stronger attacks helped them turn the tide in their favor.
Aside from Eya Laure, other key contributors for Chery Tiggo were EJ Laure, Ponggay Gaston, Mylene Paat, and Cza Carandang. Jas Nabor’s excellent playmaking also played a vital role in the team’s success.
Chery started with a 6-1 edge on services and despite PLDT having a 13-6 advantage on blocks, Chery managed to pull off a win.
For PLDT, the efforts of Savannah Davison, Erika Santos, and Dell Palomata were not enough to secure victory against Chery Tiggo.
Nabor emphasized the need for the team to start the game with an aggressive mindset and avoid falling behind early.
