Celtics Dominate Bulls to Progress in NBA In-Season Tournament
The Boston Celtics defeated the Chicago Bulls 124-97 to secure a spot in the quarterfinals of the NBA In-Season Tournament. Jaylen Brown led the Celtics with 30 points, while Jayson Tatum contributed 21 points. As a result of their victory, the Celtics clinched the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference.
The Celtics set a season-high of 21 3-pointers in the game, with Al Horford and Jrue Holiday both making four each. All five Boston starters scored in double figures. Horford finished with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Holiday, returning after missing two games, had 14 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds.
The Celtics outrebounded the Bulls 51-38 and shot 52% from the field. With their best record in the NBA, the Celtics needed a win and an outstanding scoring performance to advance to the quarterfinals.
DeMar DeRozan and Coby White led the Bulls with 19 points each, but it was not enough to stop the Celtics’ outside shooting. Patrick Williams added 14 points and seven rebounds for the Bulls. Boston made 21 out of 49 attempts from beyond the arc.
Ayo Dosunmu contributed 10 points for the Bulls, who have now lost eight of their last nine games. Boston dominated the second quarter, scoring 38 points to take a 69-50 halftime lead and continued to widen the gap in the third quarter.
Boston will face the Indiana Pacers in the next round, while the Bulls will host the Milwaukee Bucks in their upcoming game.
