Boston Celtics Remain Undefeated at Home with Victory against Cleveland Cavaliers in 12th Consecutive Win

Jayson Tatum scored a game-high 27 points to lead the Boston Celtics to a 116-107 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Celtics remain undefeated at home with a 12-0 record. Jaylen Brown added 22 points, Kristaps Porzingis had 18, Jrue Holiday 15, and Derrick White 14 in a balanced scoring effort for Boston. The Celtics, with the best record in the Eastern Conference, won their sixth game in their last seven outings.

Cleveland’s Donovan Mitchell finished with 31 points, Caris LeVert with 26, and Darius Garland with 19. Despite their efforts, the Cavaliers have now lost three games in a row.

The Celtics, who pretty much controlled the game from start to finish, kept the Cavaliers at bay and held on for the win. Tatum’s fadeaway and a step-back 3-pointer extended Boston’s lead to 101-91 with 8 1/2 minutes to go. Cleveland made a late push, cutting the lead to 107-102 with just over three minutes left, but the Celtics responded with key baskets from Holiday and Tatum to secure the win.

Celtics guard Jaylen Brown noted that his team had played “lethargically” and allowed the game to remain close against a dangerous Cavaliers team. Despite the win, the Celtics were aware they could have performed better.

The Celtics, who had rebounded from a slow start in their previous game against the Cavaliers, combined efficient ball movement with sharp outside shooting to build a 14-point lead in the second quarter. Overall, their solid play and execution were pivotal to their victory.

Boston coach Joe Mazzulla appreciated the growth and execution displayed by his team over the last two games, emphasizing their ability to maintain a consistent level and play well together.

The Cavaliers, who struggled throughout the game, missed 16 of 20 three-point attempts in the first half. Despite a better second half, Cleveland fell short of overcoming the Celtics’ lead.

The Cavaliers will next face the Atlanta Hawks, while the Celtics will host the Orlando Magic, in their upcoming games.
