2023 Sports Heroes Prepared for Red Carpet by PSA

EJ Obiena, Gilas Pilipinas, Annie Ramirez, Meggie Ochoa, and Sarina Bolden showcased their excellence in their respective sports, bringing glory to the Philippines on the international stage. Obiena achieved an Asian Games gold medal in pole vaulting, while Ramirez and Ochoa secured gold medals in jiujitsu at the Asiad. Gilas Pilipinas also made a mark by winning the Asian basketball throne after six decades and defeating China in the World Cup. The Filipinas, led by Sarina Bolden, made history with a memorable debut in the Women’s World Cup. These achievements have made them front-runners for the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Awards Night. In 2023, the Philippines had a stellar performance in the Asian Games, collecting four gold medals, two silvers, and 12 bronzes. The Filipinas’ victory in the World Cup also added to the country’s success in sports. The PSA Awards Night on January 29, 2024 at Diamond Hotel will recognize these outstanding achievements in Philippine sports. Along with the Athlete of the Year award, other honors like the Lifetime Achievement Award, Executive of the Year, and National Sports Association of the Year will also be presented.
