How To Practice The Von Latta Technique

Both the half sit up and the Plow stretch the muscles of the stomach and back in the opposite direction of the Cobra. The Plow (fig. 23) is very difficult and only for the most agile practitioners.

Most people won't be able to do the Plow. This Forward Bend exercise is an effective exercise to do after doing the Cobra. While you are practicing the Von Latta Technique and growing in an awareness of its potential you will develop exercises of your own. As a participant in the Von Latta Technique, you should send a complete description of your personally developed exercise(s), including all your thoughts concerning it, to me. By sharing our exercises and experiences with each other, we will all grow stronger and will help to perfect this technique for the benefit of us all. The information you now have will allow you to begin...to grow...to win. If you decide to try this technique, then you must consequently apply it. You can't get better if you don't try.

Each evening, for several weeks, spend five to ten minutes exploring the different traction type movements that are possible with the Pyramid Position. When you combine the Pyramid Position, with a relaxed lower body and the proper pressure, you will gain strength and develop self-confidence...you will gain mastery over your own body. You will be proud when you can honestly say to friends and loved ones, "I am no longer at the mercy of a weak, lower back. I am in control and when I need to, I can cure myself."

You will discover that the Von Latta Technique can be applied in modified form, sitting in a chair or on the couch, or, even, sitting in a vehicle. Once you learn to relax the lower body, while using the upper body and arms to exert force, you will be able to apply the Von Latta Technique in personal and privately developed ways.
